Did ‘illusory’ discounts from Coles, Woolies really mislead consumers?

However, any legal action by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is likely to be contested by the major supermarkets because the regulatory guidelines or guardrails around promotional discounting are a grey legal issue.
