Coles, Woolworths blame price hikes on suppliers

Supermarket giants Coles and Woolworths have told a court that nearly every price rise on hundreds of goods that the competition regulator claims is an example of sham discounting was done at the request of suppliers.
The retailers appeared in court on Wednesday as part of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s case accusing them of tricking shoppers on hundreds of grocery promotions.
