Baby Bunting’s novel solution to conquer parents’ indecision

For years, Baby Bunting has seen shoppers come into stores, browse big-ticket items from prams to car seats – then become paralysed by indecision. Now, the country’s largest nursery retailer, which is trying to turn around a steep slide in profit, is trying something different: new store layouts.

Mark Teperson, a former Afterpay executive, took over at Baby Bunting in 2023. He says that while some retailers are cutting the number of stores they have as shoppers move online, there is plenty of value in shops. They just need to be updated to make it easier for customers to buy.
