Baker McKenzie partners reject overhaul plans
Local partners at Baker McKenzie have rejected a proposal from the firm’s management to integrate with its broader Asian division, a key part of a turnaround plan for the global legal giant’s faltering Australian operations.
Three-quarters of the firm’s Australian partners were required to approve the change, but multiple people briefed on the ballot outcome said the merger motion was defeated. Despite its failure, the firm’s management has decided to hold a second vote on the proposal.
