Drilling companies are grappling with omicron wildcards ranging from Western Australia’s “nightmare” cancellation of its border reopening to the prospect of the coronavirus variant making skilled staff sick while business is flat out.

Some are also navigating shortfalls in sourcing of rapid tests for COVID-19 to check fly in, fly out workers before they are sent to remote sites, and delays in people receiving medical clearances.
