IGO ‘confident’ in new CEO Vella after Rio dismissal

The board of home-grown lithium and nickel producer IGO is standing by its decision to appoint Ivan Vella as CEO after investigating the circumstances that led Rio Tinto to sack him a fortnight ago.

Rio Tinto dismissed Mr Vella, the former head of its aluminium division on November 15, because of his “failure” to properly manage confidential information, the company said.
