A years-long bull run in the copper price has taken the valuation of mines with it, and created multi-billion dollar takeover plays in its wake. Yet one Australian mine appears to be an exception, with investors and brokers worried that, with little fanfare, it could be being sold for a bargain.
That is the CSA Mine near Cobar in outback NSW, in an area that has been mined on and off since 1872 and ultimately acquired by Glencore in 1999. The Swiss commodities giant offloaded the operations to Metals Acquisition Corp, which snapped up the mine in 2023 and promptly went public.
