Australia’s year-end TV ratings figures have kicked off a war of words between rivals Seven and Nine over which network is really No.1 – and some soul-searching for the now fourth-placed Ten.

Network Ten’s already tough year ended on an embarrassing note, with ratings down year-on-year and the broadcaster consigned to fourth place, behind the public broadcaster the ABC for the third time in recent history.
