Consumers are spending $510 more per household each year on media and entertainment than before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and PwC expects the growth to continue over the next five years, reaching a total of $55.5 billion in 2026.
PwC’s Australian Entertainment & Media Outlook 2022 report says while the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic was “characterised by households reining in spending ... the second wave into 2021 saw consumers turn to entertainment and media to help alleviate the boredom of extended lockdowns”.
