Ellison’s $13b Skydance deal with Paramount approved (with a twist)

A long-awaited merger between David Ellison’s Skydance Media and Paramount Global – the owner of Australian free-to-air station Network Ten – has been given the green light by the US media regulator, weeks after Paramount settled a lawsuit with Donald Trump.

The Federal Communications Commission on Friday backed the deal after the Trump administration extracted concessions on the news and entertainment company’s political coverage and diversity practices.
