Incitec pockets $29.4m grant to solve urea crisis, for now

The federal government will give manufacturer Incitec Pivot a $29.4 million grant to ramp up the production of refined urea needed to avoid a trucking crisis, but the solution may be short-lived given the company is committed to closing its Brisbane plant.

The agreement with the $6 billion company will lead to Australia producing all the technical-grade urea (TGU) it needs each month to make the fuel additive AdBlue, which is used by trucks and diesel-powered cars.
