The Victorian government is staying mum about the future of its top rail agency executive, Campbell Rose, despite the VicTrack boss being “on leave” for most of 2022 amid the failure of a bridge monitoring venture, Eloque.

The joint venture to remotely monitor bridges for cracks and other structural deficiencies was struck between the Victorian government’s VicTrack rail agency and Xerox’s Palo Alto Research Centre (PARC) with the aim of commercialising technology internationally – but it was scrapped in mid-2022, just 16 months after it was set up.
