Healius flags asset sales and plans to shut some operations
Healius plans to shut down some laboratories and collection centres in regional areas and embark on asset sales after a collapse in profit margins.
Healius, formerly known as Primary Health Care, operates 2000 pathology collection centres for blood and urine tests, 100 testing laboratories and 150 imaging sites. The country’s second-largest pathology group crashed to a loss of $636 million in the six months ended December 31, after a $603 million goodwill impairment on its pathology division which had its value slashed after an extended period of weak returns.
