The Australian Competition Tribunal has rejected concerns of the competition watchdog and online bookmaker CrownBet over the $11 billion merger of Tabcorp and Tatts Group and found it will create more competition in the wagering market.
The Tribunal ruled the merger could proceed last Friday after a drawn-out process that has seen Tabcorp and Tatts announce their intention to merge last October, followed by two weeks of hearings in May, a subsequent appeal by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission to the Federal Court and then further consideration by the tribunal.
