Michael Mansfield was nine years old when a trip to Disneyland in California opened his eyes to the life-changing powers of shrewd investing.

That early lesson stayed with the Geelong boy, who went on to play in three AFL grand finals for the Cats, his hometown team, before forging a successful career as a financial adviser with Morgans Brighton, which manages more than $900 million in funds.
