Superannuation funds are becoming so mammoth that they should be subject to bank-like capital requirements, experts say.

Projections by Rice Warner show AustralianSuper is on track to become a $325 billion fund within the next four years, pipped only by QSuper and Sunsuper if their proposed merger goes ahead.
