Insurers question premium claims for $10b reinsurance pool

Insurers have called on the Morrison government to release the modelling that showed policyholders in North Queensland would receive a 46 per cent premium discount after the proposed introduction of its $10 billion reinsurance pool for natural disasters.

Assistant Treasurer Michael Sukkar introduced the long-awaited legislation in federal Parliament on Wednesday, but it is unclear whether there will be enough time to establish the mandatory reinsurance pool before the May election.
