PM ‘listening’ to North Queensland with $10b reinsurance pool
Insurance premiums for people in northern Australia should fall by about 10 per cent as a result of the federal government’s proposed $10 billion reinsurance pool, says Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
While the insurance industry has previously pushed back hard against any government intervention in the market, the Insurance Council of Australia said it would try to work to implement the scheme which has been pushed by local MPs, including crucial North Queensland crossbencher Bob Katter.
