Digital firms scoop up opportunities
ASEAN has become one of the fastest growing regions for Australian digital technology firms over the last two to three years.
When former Sydney-based fund manager George Lucas decided to buy the licence for fintech application Acorns, which scoops up digital spare change and invests it through fund managers dealing with much larger sums of money, he made sure he also captured the licence for major south-east Asian markets. It was then rebranded as Raiz Invest and floated on the Australian Securities Exchange.
