CBA fined by competition regulator for breach of data sharing rules

James Eyers

Commonwealth Bank has been fined by the competition regulator after some of its business customers were unable to share bank data under the consumer data right to enable them to access accounting services.

Australian Competition and Consumer Commission deputy chair Catriona Lowe said the $792,000 penalty should remind all banks participating in the regime – also known as “open banking” – that failing to comply with the rules may result in ACCC enforcement action.
