Commonwealth Bank CEO Matt Comyn has opened up about the delicate needle the prudential regulator has to thread as it sets lending policies for banks.

His comments, at a Trans-Tasman Business Circle lunch in Sydney on Tuesday, provided a solid defence of the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority’s so-called serviceability buffer, which limits borrowing capacity – and has come under political pressure in Canberra this week.
