ASX faces ASIC, RBA blowtorch over December settlement outage

The country’s sharemarket operator faces an external investigation and stricter oversight as early as Monday as the corporate regulator and central bank step up their inquiries into a major outage last year.

The Reserve Bank of Australia and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission are the regulators of the ASX, and are expected to compel the company to submit to a review conducted by an independent expert into how a crucial settlement systems failed for hours.
