Nearly 25pc of coal capacity remains offline despite energy crunch
Nearly one-quarter of Australia’s coal capacity is offline just as a cold snap hits the eastern seaboard, threatening to exacerbate an energy crunch that may shutter businesses and deepen cost of living pressures.
The new Labor government has said it will push to restore offline coal power generation in a bid to ease concerns about the impact on Australia’s $2 trillion economy.
