Workers at CS Energy’s Callide C coal-fired power station in Central Queensland first noticed something was wrong with unit 4 turbine early in the afternoon of May 25.
The 405-megawatt Toshiba steam turbine, which is like a large windmill with high-pressure steam driving the blades, just didn’t sound right, according to those close to the company.
