CS Energy commits to replacing damaged Callide power station
State-owned CS Energy is committed to replacing the damaged Callide C power station unit at the centre of the catastrophic failure last week that caused a state-wide blackout – and coal will remain a key part of Queensland’s energy mix, says chief executive Andrew Bills.
Despite speculation the Palaszczuk government may close the coal-fired power station early to help achieve its 50 per cent renewable target by 2030, Mr Bills said CS Energy and joint venture partner InterGen were committed to replacing the damaged unit 4 at Callide C.
