As the US market’s rally seemingly runs out of steam, one of its most prominent voices, Jeffrey Gundlach, is concerned about surges reminiscent of the past.

Is the Wall Street rally starting to run out of steam? That’s the question hanging over investors after a strange night in markets.

Soft US inflation data released before the trading session promoted a big jump in futures, and a strong opening for the S&P 500 as investors bet that the Federal Reserve could start cutting interest rates as soon as September. Predictably, US President Donald Trump quickly took to social media to call for the Fed to slash rates by 1 per cent.
