If you need proof that a federal election is just around the corner, just look at the ASX release announcing Commonwealth Bank’s December half profit.

Chief executive Matt Comyn mentions supporting customers experiencing hardship. He mentions the bank’s strong balance sheet, its efforts to stimulate economic growth, and the dividends it puts into millions of investors’ pockets and superannuation funds. Comyn even gives his verdict on the outlook for the Australian economy.
