Fourfold rise in union visits at BHP’s Pilbara mines is not helping wages

It is amazing how quickly a summit about the workforce reveals the chasm between government and big business. BHP’s Pilbara mines are a great example.

Dear big business, want to know what workplace issue the government is focused on? Wages, wages and more wages.

Employment and Workplace Relations Minister Murray Watt couldn’t have made it any clearer on Tuesday. He said the government got elected to “get wages moving again”, which it has done and is now trying to be re-elected on the same grounds.
