Few figures in Australia’s corporate sector are as polarising as Don Meij, who announced on Tuesday that he will retire from Domino’s Pizza after a staggering 40 years with the Australian pizza giant, including 22 as chief executive.
For his champions, Meij is the genius who listed Domino’s in 2005 with a market capitalisation of just $135 million and grew that 23-fold over the next 19 years to $3.1 billion through a series of audacious global bets, from Japan to France.
