Business props up budget but gets little back

The best that the corporate sector can hope for out of the budget is the promised soft landing but even that feels a bit too good to be true.

Corporate Australia has done its bit to get the national budget back in check, and what does it get for this? A soft landing and falling profits.

Forecast to pay nearly 10 per cent more tax this financial year than what was the case only seven months ago, business has been overlooked by the Labor government, which has spent the extra dollars on welfare, health, aged care workers and power bills.
