Ardent capitalist updates Friedman's focus on profit
Ken MacKenzieGlobal capitalism is rightly being challenged these days. Don't get me wrong. I'm an ardent capitalist. If you look at what's happened over the last thirty years in global capitalism, there's a massive amount of wealth that's been created and the living standards particularly in the Third World have been lifted. Hundreds of millions, if not billions, of people have been lifted out of poverty but not everybody's been a winner.
If you look at the disconnect, it's probably been the less skilled people in the developed world that haven't been the winners. And I think we need to revisit that and think about what we have done differently, and what do we need to do going forward to bring them along on that journey.
