If the list of winners and losers in business in 2016 is measured purely in financial terms then gaming billionaire James Packer is right near the top of the winners.

Packer probably does not nudge out Fortescue Metals Group founder Andrew "Twiggy" Forrest but there is daylight between them and just about everybody else.
