A woman accused of murdering her partner after subjecting him to months of violence will deny the charges, a court has heard – while her bid to reclaim her assets has been thrown out.

On Thursday, the District Court granted a request, by prosecutors, to dismiss alleged love triangle murderer Sheree May Glastonbury’s application to access her seized assets.

Prosecutors successfully argued Ms Glastonbury’s legal tilt was premature and “misconceived”, given she has yet to enter pleas to allegations she murdered Geoffrey McLean.

Stacy Carter, for Ms Glastonbury, said she had recently taken over all of her client’s cases and did not object to the assets bid being “struck down” – for now.

“Ms Glastonbury is due to enter her pleas in the Adelaide Magistrates Court next week, and these are allegations of murder that will be going to trial,” she said.

“We accept (that trial) will not be until the middle of next year, if not the end of next year, because of the nature of the charges and the fact there are a number of defendants.”

Ms Glastonbury, 49, and Mark Murphy, 51, have yet to plead to charges including murder, attempted murder, assault and serious criminal trespass.

Prosecutors have alleged that, after a months-long campaign of violence, they killed Mr McLean then conspired with Mr Murphy’s twin and sister-in-law to hide the body.

In August, prosecutors secured restraining orders preventing Ms Glastonbury accessing the house where Mr McLean was allegedly killed, as well as his vehicles.

When Ms Glastonbury asked those orders be overturned, insisting the property was hers, prosecutors alleged she had transferred it into her name after Mr McLean’s death.

On Thursday, prosecutors said the assets bid should be dismissed because it had “no work to do” at law until the criminal case had been finalised.

They asked the ultimate question of whether the house and cars would be permanently seized be put off until June.

Ms Carter said that was “a bit redundant” given “delays” in the trial lists.

The court agreed, adjourning the matter until September.

Ms Glastonbury and her co-accused will face the Magistrates Court next week.
