The longtime partner of missing man Geoff McLean will stay behind bars until at least June, having been charged with his murder.

Sheree May Glastonbury, 49, is also charged with having assaulted, invaded the home of, seriously harmed and attempted to kill her lover in the months prior to his death – as well as a charge of arson.

The northern suburbs woman faced the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday, following her arrest on the charges last week.

She was arrested on Thursday alongside Mark John Murphy, 51.

Mr Murphy has been charged with murder, attempted murder, assault, serious criminal trespass and intentionally causing serious harm to another person.

The alleged victim of each of those charges was Mr McLean, with court documents alleging the offences spanned from April 10 through August 20, 2022.

Mr Murphy, they alleged, assaulted Mr McLean with “a bottle containing liquid”, invaded his home and tried to kill him with a log-splitter prior to the murder.

Mr McLean’s partial remains were discovered in a wheelie bin on a Salisbury South vacant lot in October last year.

Court documents allege Ms Glastonbury committed the same offences as Mr Murphy, as well as one additional charge of arson against a building or motor vehicle.

Ms Glastonbury has yet to enter a plea to any of those charges.

On Monday, counsel for Ms Glastonbury said their client would not be seeking release on bail.

That submission prompted members of Ms Glastonbury’s family, who had been waiting in court for her case since 9.30am, to cry.

Outside court, Ms Glastonbury’s sister Tina said she had yet to speak to her.

Asked if her sister had been grieving Mr McLean’s death, she said: “She has”.

“It’s upsetting … I would like to discuss it further however, due to the court proceedings, I actually can’t make any comment,” she said.

“But it’s been horrific and, I suppose, it’s just the start of the journey.”

Magistrate Simon Smart remanded Ms Glastonbury in custody until June, to face court alongside Mr Murphy.
