Country and metro teams from every corner of the state will descend on Adelaide for the tournaments from next week.
For the first time, the year 6 and year 7 carnivals will be live streamed exclusively by The Advertiser and The Messenger.
In total, 196 games will be available to watch on advertiser.com.au with matches broadcast simultaneously from two ovals or courts on each of the 15 days of competition (see fixtures below).
Featuring shortened clashes in a lightning carnival-style fixture, the action begins with the country football from Monday, May 31 to Friday, June 4 at Barratt Reserve, West Beach.
The country Year 6 and metro Year 7 netball matches will be played at Netball SA Stadium from Monday to Wednesday, followed by the country Year 7 and metro Year 6 competitions from Wednesday through to Friday.
Metro football will take place later in June.
Riley Graham, 12, has been picked to represent Para Districts in football and was excited for his parents and family to watch the live streamed action.
“I’m a bit nervous for the carnival … but it (the live streaming) will be pretty cool,” the Burton Primary School student said.
The country football tournament will feature 20 regions, which will supply two teams each.
Co-ordinator Wade Hall said the carnival was a traditional pathway for sporting students in SA.
“I don’t think there’s any bigger junior footy carnival in this state that I’m aware of,” Hall said.
“It holds a special place for many people in South Australia and its almost like a rite of passage for kids growing up playing footy in SA.”
Netball carnival co-ordinator Marni Nicholls said the events were a great opportunity for students to represent their schools and districts.
“For many of them it’s increasing to the next level of competition, as well as learn and develop,” Nicholls said.
Teams from 20 regional districts will compete in the country netball carnival, along with 20 sides from metro areas.
The netball live streams begin at 10.30am on Monday, followed by the country football from 10.50am.
