When it comes to wedding proposals, Stefan Brandao’s takes the cake – or rather, the pizza.
Mr Brandao, 30, of Fulham Gardens, decided Antica Pizzeria in the city was the perfect place to pop the question to his girlfirend Nicolette Imbrogno last week.
“We both love food, especially wood-oven pizza, and when we first met she told me Antica was her favourite place to eat,” Mr Brandao says.
“So I figured it was the perfect place for me to ask her to be my wife.”
Mr Brandao phoned the Morphett St restaurant about a week prior to his booking to share her proposal plans, and staff were more than happy to play a part.
“The manager told me to come in on the Thursday before so I could show them exactly what I wanted and how the whole thing would unfold.
“They were so amazing with everything.”
Mr Brandao had kitchen staff create the words “will you marry me?” in dough, which sat atop two pizzas.
When the food arrived at the table, Miss Imbrogno was stunned.
“She didn’t see it coming at all,” Mr Brandao says.
“We were meant to be dining with her brother and sister-in-law, who knew about the proposal, but they called last minute to cancel on us so she wouldn’t suspect anything.”
As Mr Brandao got down on bended knee, fellow diners cheered as Miss Imbrogno said “yes”.
The couple, who has been together for three years, will tie the knot next September and plan on having their professional photos taken at Antica Pizzeria.
