The full guide to Netball SA Premier League ins and outs for every club 2022

The Premier League netball season is almost here. With a bunch of talent departing and entering the competition, here’s the guide to every move ahead of round one.

Contax's Sam Simons scores the winning goal in the dying seconds

Netball SA Premier League season is right around the corner, with a thrilling Friday night round one planned for April 29.

The league has seen an influx of talent in the offseason with some interesting moves made by the eight clubs vying for a title in 2022.

A slew of youngsters have entered the league from the state’s regional competitions, while some stars have changed colours.

Among the clubs undergoing significant changes is Matrics.

After losing last year’s grand final in the dying seconds to Contax, the 2021 runner-up has added the likes of Cameron Golding (Oakdale), Ayela Turner (Metro Jets) and Emily Sibley (Contax) to its list.

However, Matrics also lost captain Laura Packard, who decided to call time on her career after 2021.

Coach Jacqui Illman said her team was eager to go for 2022 and would look to multiple players to step up and fill Packard’s shoes.

“It’s always exciting to bring new players into the group and we’re equally excited about keeping some young players together and it’s now about developing them into strong players and leaders,” Illman said.

“It’s been a really good preseason with less interruptions than we had previously due to Covid and we’re super eager to start the year.”

With each club adding exciting talent to their lists, the Premier League is set to be as competitive as ever this season.

Illman said she was looking forward to the challenge.

“The league is getting stronger each year and there are going to be a few clubs competing for those top spots,” she said.

“It’s also good to see country players continuing to join the league across the board – they’re switched on physically and they’re used to that open style of netball so it’s really a positive.”
