Top batsmen blasting big tons
There is no Adelaide cricketer in better form right now than West Torrens captain Daniel Drew.
Two weeks ago, he and teammate Kelvin Smith shot to the top of the batting charts following dominant performances in Premier Cricket.
Now Drew has taken the No. 1 ranking from his fellow Eagle after a brilliant unbeaten 180 against a strong Woodville bowling attack on Saturday.
The captain’s monster score included 16 fours and five sixes as his side posted 6/402.
Drew will resume at the crease in the two-day contest this weekend with the chance to better his record-shattering 214 not out in a one-day clash earlier this month.
The 25-year-old has totalled 578 runs at 115.6 so far this season.
He leads teammate Smith by 110 runs in the rankings after the opener was caught on 48 on Saturday.
Another big mover in the batting charts this week was Woodville South’s Josh Hoffman.
The opener shot from 19th on the list up to fourth thanks to a terrific ton in Adelaide Turf A1 on Saturday.
Hoffman, who previously played Premier Cricket for Port Adelaide, smashed 131 from 103 balls before he was run out against St Peter’s Old Collegians at Caterer Oval.
He has been in stellar touch for the Cats, compiling a huge 183 off 193 deliveries the previous round.
In the bowling rankings, Peninsula Pirates’ Troy Reciszen reclaimed top spot from Morphettville Park’s Matt Tansell.
Reciszen snared 4/8 from eight overs in Para Districts LO1 to take his season tally to 24 wickets.
