The River Murray Football League is packed with talent and remains one of SA’s best country footy competitions, so we’ve ranked the top 35 players of 2025. See who made the cut.

The River Murray Football League has been as exciting as ever in 2025 and remains one of SA’s top country footy competitions.

Based on this season’s form and with the input of league insiders, we’ve ranked the top 35 RMFL players for 2025.

Here are our rankings from 35 to 1.

35. BEN HANSEN

(Jervois)

A gun forward for the Bluds, Hansen has been typically dominant up front.

A strong and athletic player with great marking ability and reliable goalkicking.

Has 17 goals and three best player mentions in four games.

34. KEENAN JACOBS

(Coorong Cats)

Joining the Cats after time with Naracoorte and in the Kangaroo Island Football League, Jacobs has been one of his new side’s many standouts.

A tough player in the contest who racks up possessions and is an efficient distributor under pressure.

Five best player nods in seven games.

33. SEAN SAMBLICH

A key player for Imperials up front and through the contest, Samblich has had one of his best starts to an RMFL season this year.

Clean off of the deck, a strong mark and a reliable shot for goal, Samblich can take over a game for his side.

Has 10 goals and four best player nods in six games.

32. ALEX PFEIFFER

(Ramblers)

Pfeiffer has only played four games so far this season but is still one of the league’s best.

A versatile and skilled player who can take over a game behind the footy and is one of his side’s best distributors.

Two best player nods in four games.

31. ERRIN WASLEY-BLACK

(Jervois)

A consistent star for the Bluds, Wasley-Black can be one of the most dangerous players in the competition.

Boasts excellent skills by hand and foot and can explode from stoppage around the ground and release teammates.

Has two best player performances and two goals in seven games.

30. MATT MIN

(Mannum)

Joining Mannum after time with Hope Valley, Min has provided a boost for his new club.

Can play up front as a dangerous forward or be employed through the middle with his ability to win the contested footy and deal to teammates.

Has 16 goals and a best player performance in seven games.

29. CODY KROLLIG

(Mannum)

A consistent asset around the ground for Mannum.

Krollig can be a weapon up front with his ability to lose defenders and boot goals and he is also strong in the contest.

Has 17 majors and two best player nods in seven games.

28. JACK PENFOLD

Penfold has had a strong start to his 2025 campaign.

The former Sturt player has a big motor, is strong on the ball and can move forward to hit the scoreboard for his side.

Has six goals and four best player mentions in seven games.

27. OSCAR BARRETT

(Southern Mallee)

A versatile player who can dominate games for the Suns.

Barrett reads the play well, is strong overhead and at ground level and distributes as well as anyone in his side.

Has four best player nods in seven games.

26. JACOB TREVORROW

(Ramblers)

One of the Roosters’ most consistent performers through recent seasons, Trevorrow has had another strong year so far.

A fearless player who attacks the footy through four terms each week, Trevorrow wins plenty of it and distributes well.

Has three best player nods and five goals in seven games.

25. MITCH CARROLL

Mitch Carroll has been one of Imperials’ top players so far this season.

A versatile player who can do damage in a number of ways, he is one of his side’s strongest marks and best distributors.

Has three best player nods and four goals in seven games.

24. BRODIE CARROLL

(Imperials)

Returning to Imperials from Norwood, Carroll has brought skill and versatility to the side.

Finds plenty of the footy, takes big marks and boasts slick disposal by hand and foot.

Has two best player performances in six games.

23. TOM KEOUGH

(Southern Mallee)

The former West Adelaide captain and Gold Coast- listed player has been the perfect leader for Southern Mallee since it entered the league in 2023.

The Suns captain is one of the most versatile players in the competition and has the ability to impact the game behind the ball, in the contest or up front.

22. WILL CRANE

(Imperials)

Crane has been big for Imperials since returning to the club in 2024.

Crane is a hardworking midfielder who damages sides with his ability to win the contested footy and deal to teammates while under pressure.

Has three best player nods and three goals in seven games.

21. BRODIE MARTIN

(Coorong Cats)

Former Crow Brodie Martin has been typically dangerous around the ground again this season.

A strong player who wins important possessions for the Cats and can put the ball on a platter for his teammates.

Has two best player performances in six games.

20. HENRY TURNER

(Coorong Cats)

A solid performer for Coorong last year, Turner has improved during his start to the 2025 season with a series of impressive performances for the Cats.

A versatile player who can dominate in the contest and provide security behind the ball, Turner has been among his side’s best in four of seven games.

19. CAM BALL

(Imperials)

The former Norwood and Rostrevor OC onballer has been a star since joining the RMFL this year.

A consistent ball-winner who always makes the right decisions, disposes well and can also do damage behind the footy by reading the pay.

Ball has three best player nods in five games.

18. BRAD THOMPSON

(Coorong Cats)

A star for the Cats last season, Thompson has been a standout for his side again in season 2025.

Tough in the contest and an excellent user, the gun utility is a valuable player around the ground who can set up teammates.

Has two best player performances in seven games so far.

17. JOHNNY BORAS

(Imperials)

One of the top key forwards in SA country footy, Boras has been strong for Imperials in 2025 so far.

A tough and athletic player who takes impressive marks and can boot goals from anywhere.

Has 28 goals and two best player performances in seven games.

16. ALEX STIDIFORD

Mail Medallist in 2023, Stidiford is one of the top midfielders in the competition.

A tireless worker around the groind who loves getting his hands dirty to win possession for his side, Stidiford is also a great user.

Has three best player nods in six games.

15. KOBEE DABINETT

(Mannum)

The former Sturt gun has emerged as one of the RMFL’s top players since returning to Mannum.

A courageous player who has a lot of class through the midfield, Dabinett is always effective in the contest.

Has four best player nods in seven games.

14. MATT HARTMAN

(Coorong Cats)

One of the most skilled players for the Cats.

Hartman’s ability to execute creative disposal by hand or foot while under pressure and also provide good run makes him dangerous.

Has three best player performances in seven games.

13. MATTHEW BROWN

(Mallee Districts)

A dominant player for his club this year.

Brown remains a major threat around the ground with his running and aerial ability, ball use and ability to hit the scoreboard.

Has six best player nods and six goals in seven games.

12. ADAM SMYTH

Also a standout for the RMFL’s interleague side this year, Smyth has emerged as one of Mallee Districts’ best.

A talented ball winner who can do a bit of everything for his side, Smyth finds plenty of it and is a reliable distributor.

Has five best player nods in seven games.

11. ALBERT DUNSTAN

(Coorong Cats)

An important player for the Cats in the contest and up front, Dunstan has been a consistent performer this year.

Skilled overhead and at ground level, Dunstan is one of his side’s most dangerous players and can create for himself or others.

Has 14 majors and six best player mentions in seven games.

10. DANIEL ZANDER

(Tailem Bend)

Joining the Eagles from Hahndorf for the 2025 season, Zander has had a big impact at his new club.

Finds plenty of the footy, makes reliable decisions and is constantly a goalkicking threat.

Has 10 majors and four best player mentions in seven games.

9. BRODIE EDWARDS

(Tailem Bend)

Edwards has been a star for Tailem Bend this season.

A versatile player who reads the play well, wins his own footy and can find teammates while under pressure with efficient disposal.

Has seven best player nods in seven games so far.

8. JORDAN HEIN

A versatile midfielder, Hein has starred for Mypolonga so far this season.

Hein is a strong player in the contest who wins important possessions for the Tigers, deals to teammates efficiently and can also hit the scoreboard or provide security behind the ball.

Has six best player nods and six goals in eight appearances.

7. RORY O’DRISCOLL

(Southern Mallee)

O’Driscoll remains as a dominant force for the Suns.

A versatile player who has dominated in a number of roles but does his best work in the contest through the middle while also moving forward to hit the scoreboard.

Has six best player nods and four goals in seven games.

6. JOSH SMITHSON

(Southern Mallee)

Southern Mallee star has been a standout for the club again this year.

A skilled and strong player who is a no-fuss ball-winner and racks up countless possessions as a big-bodied midfielder.

Can also have an impact inside 50, with 11 goals to go along with four best player nods in seven games.

5. LACHIE THOMAS

One of the top players in the league, young gun Thomas has been a key player for the Bluds since joining from Tailem Bend and has continued his impressive displays in 2025.

Typically at his best as a midfielder or wing, Thomas is a quick player with excellent skills and a high footy IQ.

Has seven best player mentions and eight goals in seven games.

4. SEB KERRISH

(Coorong Cats)

Joining the reigning premier Cats after multiple seasons with Sacred Heart OC in div one of the Adelaide Footy League, Kerrish has been dominant for his new club.

Arguably the best user of the footy in the competition, Kerrish provides important run and carry for his side and creates a number of goalkicking opportunities.

Has six best player nods and six goals in seven games.

3. JOSH SCOTT

(Jervois)

Consistently one of the top players in the RMFL, Scott has been a star yet again for Jervois in season 2025.

A versatile forward who does valuable work around the ground, Scott can take big grabs, boot important goals and create for others with his reliable disposal.

Has seven best player mentions and 15 goals in seven games.

2. JACK LEWIS

A dominant forward who can also play through the midfield, Lewis has been a star for the Roosters.

The former Sturt player can inject pace into his side, boasts clean skills and is as efficient as anyone in front of the big sticks.

Has 25 majors and five best player nods in seven games.

1. DANIEL MENZEL

Former Geelong and Woodville-West Torrens star Menzel has been a force as playing-coach of the Coorong Cats in the RMFL.

A dominant player who can do major damage either on the ball or up front, Menzel’s ability to win his own footy, take strong marks, dispose creatively to teammates or boot bags of goals makes him the competition’s top player.

Has 29 goals in his seven games so far this year.
