Summer carnival draws record entries in all breeds competition
Youngsters and their horses take centre stage at the All Breeds Show Society event with many of the competitors having their first showing.
THE All Breeds Show Society held their ABSS Summer Carnival on December 5 and 6 at Bendigo and had a record entry of 457 horses.
A wide range of breeds showed off their paces, from Arabians to Welsh with many youngsters having their first ever showing.
Alyse Price’s spectacular Pinto mare, Thorwood Sequins, won the grand champion Open Breed exhibit of the show award and Gracie Humphreys’ charming palomino Karlana Spring Chatter was judged as grand champion open saddle exhibit of the show.
The ABSS Foal grand champion exhibit was Chloe Beckwith’s Jarickni Delta, with the win giving her breeder a real thrill.
“A really special day for Mum and I showing Delta for the first time,” said Chloe.
“Delta is a result of my choice to send Glenview Daffney off to Labertouche, Victoria in 2018 to be served by Woranora Peek A Boo. My first pony I’ve bred from conception of idea through to reaching the show ring.”
The Youngstock grand champion exhibit of the show was Helen Dohan’s roan Welsh yearling filly, Woranora Susanna shown by Taylah Lee.
Winners included Craig Kirkpatrick’s Lilac Lodge Midnight Sky from the fillies not exceeding 10.2hh class, and the not exceeding 14hh champion was Sophie Burns’ Kemiller Park My Fair Lady.
In the Riding Pony Ring, the supreme Youngstock exhibit was Peter Barry’s Mirinda Miss Mink and the supreme champion senior led Riding Pony exhibit was Libby Greshner’s Beauparc Queen Of Hearts. Champion in the Standardbred ring was Savesometimetodream shown by Hollie Hildebrandt, and Donna Francis and Adele Couty’s Saranza was champion purebred Arabian.
