THE long-delayed Equestrian Victoria’s Spring Show was held at Werribee Park and the people’s smiles matched the gleaming coats of the 339 entries.

Cool weather and a relaxed atmosphere after nine months without a single event outing contributed to a very successful day.

The competitors got multiple chances at winning, with four rings being held with different judges.

Champions in ring one under judge David Ross included the champion Hack Lordz, shown by Greg Mickan, with the lovely horse making a good comeback after a year-long recovery from an injury.

The champion Galloway was KP Simply Exquisite shown by Briony Randle — Julie Scougall’s Royal Ballet RW was judged as champion Show Hunter Hack and the champion Show Hunter Galloway was Murraydale Park Cane ridden by Izabella McIntyre.

Paul Morath judged ring two and chose Brooke Wheeler’s Bloomfield Valiniti as his champion Show Hunter Hack, Taya Kellas’ Sanlirra Drum Call as his champion Show Hunter Galloway and Natalie McKay’s St Andrews as champion Hack.

Pauline Alker in the third ring chose her champion Ridden Pony as Swanreach Anthem shown by Daniel McNamara and the champion show Hunter Pony was Koora Lyn Marley ridden by Aisha Heinrich

Laura Davie in the fourth ring judged the show hunter ponies with her two champions Owendale Bee sting shown by Sienna Wright and Emeyalla Heavens Soprano ridden by Phoebe Kouros.

The champion riders for the day were Mia Heinrich under 15 and Jessica Dertell as senior champion.

The popular Summer Show — that has many breed rings as well as saddle classes — is proceeding as planned and the Showhorse group will conduct four rings over two days on January 9 and 10.
