Gippsland dairy giants Gray Wigg Gault could be about to seal the deal on another property sale.

The trio, which includes trucking contractor Patrick Gray and local farmers Lachlan Wigg and Matthew Gault, listed their Clydebank Aggregation near Sale on the market at the beginning of June, with a price tag of $20 million.

Expressions of interest for the property closed last week.

According to the listing, marketed by LAWD, the 1273ha property has significant water entitlements and is an “institutional dairy asset with beef finishing potential”.

It’s one of several farms the group has recently offloaded.

In August last year, Mr Gray and Mr Wigg listed a huge portfolio of dairy farms, spanning 2513ha, at Nambrok and Winnindoo in Gippsland’s Macalister Irrigation District for sale.

The farms milked about 5000 cows, making it one of the biggest dairy operations in the country. Saputo Dairy Australia held a mortgage on at least one of these properties.

In October last year, The Weekly Times revealed the portfolio had been purchased by Aurora Dairies – owned by Canada’s Public Sector Pension Investment Board – for more than $55 million.

Cropping and grazing country was also offloaded by the trio in a quick sale in September last year.

The three farms, located at Perry Bridge, Bushy Park and Bengworden, covering 604ha combined, were listed as under offer and were sold by 5pm following day.

It is understood the farms had only been listed for sale for one week.

Selling agent Paul Bourke from Gippsland Real Estate said the three properties sold quickly to two different purchases — both who are local farmers.

A price could not be disclosed.
