CROPPING farms owned by the Gippsland company Gray Wigg Gault Pty Ltd have sold.

The three farms, located in East Gippsland at Perry Bridge, Bushy Park and Bengworden, were listed as under offer yesterday morning and were sold by 5pm.

It is understood the farms had only been listed for sale for one week.

Gray Wigg Gault is run by Patrick Gray, a Gippsland trucking contractor, and local farmers Lachlan Wigg and Matthew Gault.

Selling agent Paul Bourke from Gippsland Real Estate said the three properties sold quickly to two different purchases — both who are local farmers.

Mr Bourke was unable to comment on price.

The three cropping farms sold by Gray Wigg Gault were:

*Lot 1 Crooked Lane, Bushy Park — 166ha

*Lot 1, Turners Road, Perry Bridge — 247ha

*2245 Bengworden Road, Bengworden — 191ha

It comes as The Weekly Times revealed last week, a portfolio of dairy farms owned by Gray Wigg Pty Ltd had been listed for sale.

The farms, located at Nambrok and Winnindoo in Gippsland’s Macalister Irrigation District, span 2513ha, including 2395ha freehold and 118ha leasehold

According to the listing by agent CBRE, the combined farms currently milk about 5000 cows.

This would make it one of the biggest dairy operations in Australia.

The farms are for sale by expressions of interest closing September 25, and a price is yet to be disclosed.

In August 2017, The Weekly Times reported the Environment Protection Authority fined Gray Wigg Gault $7929 for allowing up to 50,000 litres of dairy effluent to flow into a stormwater drain at Winnindoo.

Mr Gray has been contacted for comment.
