Moora at Hillston, NSW has sold for more than $50 million.

One of the world’s most prestigious universities has sold its almond orchard in the NSW Riverina.

The Harvard University Endowment Fund, which manages US Ivy League Harvard University’s $58 billion donation kitty, has sold Moora at Hillston for a reported $53.9 million.

The 524ha property was purchased by Primewest, which recently merged with Centuria Capital.

Moora was listed for sale in October last year along with two other properties in Harvard’s Western Rosella Farming portfolio. The three properties had a combined asking price of $120 million.

The Harvard endowment fund is the largest academic endowment in the world. According to its “Report of Giving”, the three biggest donors in 2018-19 gifted a combined $US431 million to the university. The donor list reads like a who’s who of tech billionaires, business identities and politicians, including Mr Zuckerberg, the Rockefeller family and former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Primewest’s agricultural assets also include the 385ha celery and parsnip Lamattina Farm on the Mornington Peninsula which it purchased last year along with the Pinegetta Farm in NSW which produces carrots and potatoes on 425ha.

It comes as Ballandry Station in the Riverina was recently listed for sale for the second time in three years.

The huge 26,954ah station at Griffith is owned by David Bartter and an asking price has not been disclosed.
