Elmsdale at Ecklin South sold to local buyer
A farm near Timboon has exchanged hands – and the auction saw 40 bids from three buyers. Two of which were dairy farmers.
A dairy farm at Ecklin South near Timboon in the Western District has sold for $2,253,600 — equating to $18,780 per ha or $7600 an acre.
The 120ha property, Elmsdale, was sold under the hammer last Friday and was purchased by a local dairy farmer who will use the property for dry cows.
It was listed for sale for more than $2 million.
Elsmdale had been in the hands of Adelaide-based liquidators Meertens Chartered Accountants.
Selling agent Nick Adamson, from Charles Stewart, said the auction saw 40 bids from three buyers – two of which were dairy farmers.
“We had a lot of inquiry from local buyers,” Mr Adamson said.
“We were expecting about $6500 an acre of $16,000 per ha.
“It’s a tightly held area and we are seeing more confidence in dairy farmer at the moment”.
Elsmdale was empty of all livestock.
