A blend of black coffee, ghee and collagen: How this CEO starts her day
Bendon Group CEO Anna Johnson, 52, shares her day on a plate.
5am I take my daily vitamins with a glass of water, then treat myself to a Bulletproof coffee – a blend of black coffee, ghee and collagen.
7am I bolster my immune system with vitamin C.
8am It’s time for another black coffee, this time with a splash of hot milk.
12pm I have last night’s leftovers – a hearty roast lamb dish paired with a green salad of lettuce, cucumber, tomato, feta and a splash of vinaigrette.
6pm A slow-cooked beef stew with mashed potatoes, caramelised onions and shiitake mushrooms.
8pm I wind down with liquorice tea before prepping family lunches.
Dr Joanna McMillan says:
Top marks for … Not eating after dinner and allowing your body a good overnight fast. Late-night eating is associated with weight gain and can impact sleep quality and gut health. Marks, too, for prepping lunches and using up leftovers. This usually means more nutritious meals and less food waste.
If you keep eating like this you’ll … Risk falling short on calcium – key for bone health, especially in your 50s when bone density takes a sharp decline. Supplements can cause problems, so you are best to boost your intake from food.
Why don’t you try … Getting your vitamin C from fresh fruit and teaming it with Greek yoghurt for calcium. Other calcium-rich foods include dark-green veggies, tofu, fish with edible bones such
as sardines, almonds and tahini.
