Chef and keen gardener Peter Gilmore listed Tastebuds as one of his favourite breakfast spots in the 2013 global guide Where Chefs Eat. It couldn't be further from the glamour of his three hat restaurant Quay - perhaps that's part of its appeal. It's an unpretentious spot tucked into the Hills Flower Market, with potted plants and flowers dotted throughout, making it very handy for multitasking a coconut and cherry smoothie, French toast with berry compote and zucchini and sweetcorn fritter for breakfast, and a healthy new streptocarpus for the garden. The Toby's caffe latte ($3.50) will help you power through the pruning.
