Ramen Kan
Japanese
It’s first in, best dressed at this wildly popular compact eatery. As the name suggests, it’s all about ramen here, although the extensive menu has plenty of non-soup noodle offerings, too. Choose from karaage (deep-fried chicken) ramen, salmon ramen, crab corn ramen, curry ramen or their house speciality, Bondi ramen, a chicken stock-based dish topped with crumbed chicken. Aficionados know to order tonkotsu ramen, with its creamy, impossibly collagen-rich broth made by boiling fatty pork bones for no less than three days. A nice touch is the container of home-toasted garlic and onion flakes that add earthy crunch to the proceedings.
