Ichiro's
Japanese$$
Corporate by day, residential by night, Ichiro's is exactly what locals have been wishing for, and no one is complaining about waiting a few extra minutes for sushi rolls made fresh to order. Located next to Mascot train station, under one of the many colossal pop-up-overnight apartment blocks, classic Japanese cuisine in modern-day surrounds is the order of the day. Salmon carpaccio arrives, pretty as a picture, dotted artfully with wasabi mayonnaise. The tempura is a dreamy combination of crisp outer and soft inner while the pork gyoza with ponzu dipping sauce is stellar.
