El Amigo
South American$$
This family-owned eatery might appear unassuming, but inside you'll find some of the most vibrantly authentic Peruvian cooking in Sydney. Bypass the burger menu and head straight for the ceviche - a tangy blend of fish and lemon laced with red onion and coriander next to a tender puck of sweet potato. Anticuchos (marinated ox heart skewered and grilled) is offaly good and repeat visits are rewarded with a revolving specials board featuring unfussy conchitas (baked scallops topped with parmesan) and a flavour-packed seco de codero (lamb stew with cassava, beans and rice). Don't skip the doughnuts. Buen provecho!
